The Tardis Effect

Design Brief

The client’s wish list included a Scullery, clean lines and minimalist styling with high end fixtures and fittings.
However due to the serious lack of space, a scullery was impossible!

I designed a working pantry that was fitted with everything the family had dreamt of. This included a stone bench, multiple power points, Legrabox drawers with glass fronts and open wall units with LED lighting. This space gave the clients the usability, storage and ‘hideabilty’ of a scullery without taking anything away from the main area.

This area is closed via recessed sliding doors which integrates it seamlessly with the rest of the kitchen.

The builder and the engineer had to devise a bulk head to accommodate the sliding doors. The clients were overjoyed with this innovative feature and have said it has more than compensated for the missing scullery.

The much sought after Calcatta gold stone was used as the splashback and island back panel. Concealed lighting was added to bring out the beauty of the stone; the impact is immediate when entering the kitchen and gives it the WOW factor.

Wall units were lifted above the splashback to showcase the stone and keep all cabinetry lines clean and consistent.

The white base cabinetry and drawers with specially painted white ‘G’ Profile handles were topped off with white stone to really hit the white on white aspect of the clients brief.

Fitting everything into an impossibly small place? We call it the Tardis effect.
